In STREAMS, Enviva’s activities will focus on measuring and assessing circularity by integrating indicators for resource inflows, outflows, waste, emissions, water, energy, and economic factors. Adhering to the ISO 59020 Standard, the team is developing a methodology to evaluate the circularity of STREAMS supply chains and products, as well as the impact on sustainable economic, environmental and social development. Using a systemic approach, Enviva will assess circularity, social, environmental, and economic dimensions, resulting in harmonised indicators based on life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle costing (LCC), social LCA tasks, and circularity metrics. This work aims to create a robust framework for evaluating and enhancing circularity within the battery manufacturing industry.

In STREAMS, Enviva contributes to the assessment of circularity across the project’s technologies, products and supply chains. Building on ISO 59020 Enviva integrates indicators covering resource use, waste, emissions, water, energy, economic performance and broader sustainability impacts.
A key focus of Enviva’s role is to translate these indicators into clear, practical information that can support industrial decision-making. This includes helping project partners understand the circularity implications of different technologies and identifying how sustainability performance can be communicated and used by manufacturers, technology providers and other industry stakeholders.
Enviva is committed to working with STREAMS partners to help strengthen the competitiveness, resilience and sustainability of Europe’s battery manufacturing industry, while reducing dependency on critical imported resources and supporting the transition towards more circular industrial value chains.
